It’s the last week of classes. Whew.

So, after making my to-do grid, I realized I had a lot of work to do this weekend and so spent most of it grading and/or doing prep for this week and finals. I have made so much progress, though, so it was totally worth it. And after next Friday? SCHOOL’S OUT FOR THE SUMMER. As long as I get my grades in by then.

In other news, I did a lot of cooking and baking this weekend. The scones were okay but not great; the bread was good but not great; the chicken soup was good but not great…are you getting the picture? Everything was edible, but nothing wowed me. Maybe  it will be different this week.

And I also discovered Prime Reading this weekend. (And by “discovered,” I mean “paid attention to one of the many emails I get from Amazon.”) I am not really sure how I missed it before, but it’s almost time to renew my membership so I guess it’s good I’m realizing all the perks that come with Prime besides free shipping and movies/TV.

A to Z Challenge is still happening, so I posted a bunch this past week.

Theme is still gratitude.

I finished a book! This is actually the first book I have read this month. So…yeah. That’s where I am right now.

Book of a Thousand DaysBook of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flawless.

Awesome narrator, fully realized setting, engaging story.

Reread 4/16/17: I listened to the audio of this, which I would give a 4.5 because the main narrator had some affectations that I didn’t particularly care for. But I *love* that this is a full-cast audio production, which means different people did the different characters’ voice. LOVE.

Dashti still owns my heart (talk about faith–I mean), but, man, I really felt for Saren this time around, especially since I knew why she was so the way she was.

Congratulations! You are almost there. I picked up The Inexplicable Logic of My Life from my library last week, but haven’t had time to get to it yet. After reading about Book of a Thousand Days as an audiobook I checked and discovered it is available at my library. I put a hold on it. I’m in the middle of working on a quilt, and if I have something good to listen to, the time just flies by.

Thank you for sharing about Amazon Reading. My husband has a Prime account and I get to share in those joys, but didn’t realize until I just now checked it out that I could read a Kindle book a month for free. 🙂 Awesome. I also loved Book of a Thousand Days.

For sure the marking is not my thing either. I am hoping to read Book of a Thousand Days eventually. I have several Shannon Hale books that should get read sooner or later. Pedal to the metal for the home stretch. Good luck!

SO CLOSE HANG IN THERE! You can make it! Also, I can’t WAIT to hear about the Saenz book and what you thought of it. I picked it up at the bookstore the other day and almost bought it, but I couldn’t justify buying more books in a year when I have bought approx. 50 books already. Stupid, tempting book sales.
