My name is Akilah, and I studied English Literature and Creative Writing in graduate school. I’m out of school now and working as an adjunct professor in fields tangentially related to lit and creative writing, but my love of reading has not waned.
Englishist is a word I coined in response to one of my friends who is an engineer. Whenever we would have debates, she would call on her authority as a scientist if the occasion called for it, so one day I jokingly called on my authority as an Englishist, and I’ve been using the term ever since.
This is my book blog where I catalog the books I’m reading and what I think about them. Unless otherwise specified, I either bought the books or got them from the library.
I read across genres, but my true love is realistic YA lit.
